“I think of the camera as my “third eye” that sees things in a unique and different way. I use my photography to combine Light and Form to reveal things you wouldn’t see normally. I like to make people think about the center and meaning of things they would normally pass by. I work both in color and black & white film.
I have a photographic obsession with fire, fog and mist. These can reveal even as they obscure, acting almost like Rorschach tests for the viewer. I capture images that are meant to be interpreted differently by every person, including me. What do you see?
I love taking landscapes where you feel like you can touch what is in the photo if you could just get your hand though the glass, and touch the sand, or put your feet in the water. Nature can be as soft as a flannel shirt, or harsh and abrasive as pumice.” ~ Karen Dawson.
Sean-Michael Bryce Gettys
Sean-Michael Bryce Gettys was born and raised in the 70′s near the beaches of southern California, and is currently a Phoenix, AZ ‘desert rat.’ He will always be a beach bum, flower child of an artist at heart. His art is eclectic, emotional, expressive, and often multimedia. His mother often said he was a flower child born in the wrong decade, but he believes love, peace, hope and courage are never out of style. It is his hope that the world we live in will continue to become more welcoming of all humans. As his art often reflects the current moment, his present focus has been on Occupy Phoenix and the goings on of the world around us.
